ACCESS Study Fall 2008

About the Survey

From October 1 through October 31, 2008, UB conducted a campus-wide survey the results of which will help make the UB campus facilities and programs more accessible for all community members, including those with disabilities. All faculty, staff, students and administrators were encouraged to participate in the 10-minute ACCESS (Assessment of Campus Climate to Enhance Student Success).

The survey, implemented by UB’s Disability Services office, is being conducted by colleges nationwide in collaboration with the Association on Higher Ed and Disability (AHEAD). UB will gather information from faculty, administrators, staff and students with and without disabilities regarding the campus climate for students with disabilities.

"The ACCESS survey results will help us take a proactive approach to creating a campus where students with disabilities feel welcome and achieve a higher level of success," said Dennis R. Black, Vice President for Student Affairs.

"Our goal is to use the data from the surveys to learn how to best support everyone in the UB community concerning access issues,” said Randall Borst, UB’s Director of Disability Services. “This survey is step one in making meaningful change in climate and attitudes for students with disabilities."
